Description: Alan Bryant will be on THE DAILY REPORT WITH COLONEL RAY on 710 KURV in McAllen, TX.
Start Time: 17:05
Date: 2009-01-06

Alan Bryant will be discussing the Texas House Bill 188, Children’s Bill of Rights, with Colonel Ray and State Representative Roberto Alonzo, who authored the bill.

Unfortunately, KURV does not stream their broadcasts online, yet. I have been told that they will be in a matter of weeks. I am going to attempt to get audio of the segment to post here on the website so those readers not in South Texas can hear it too.

NY Post: OBAMA STIRS FEARS IN ISRAEL

January 3, 2009 by LoneStarLizard · 3 Comments

Article in the NY Post describing how the difficult decisions currently being made by Israel are driven in part by the timetable of the Obama administration taking office in a few weeks.

Israel’s leaders are asking themselves two questions: Is the cost of sending sufficient ground forces into Gaza just too high? And, upon his inauguration on Jan. 20, will President Obama undercut Israel’s counterterror offensive before its goals have been reached?

Israel can deal with self-aggrandizing busybodies, such as French President Nicolas Sarkozy, whose irresponsible attempts to force a cease-fire upon Israel benefit only Hamas. (Carla, can’t you give that guy something to do?) But Israel would be hard pressed to fight on without American support.

BTW, apparently US troops are pretty worried about Obama as well.

I realize this blog post is turning into several posts in one, but I feel that it is very important to mention the portion of the article which describes the great degree of care which Israel is putting into avoiding civilian casualties:

Despite the frankly anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish reporting of this conflict in the global media, Israel’s military performance not only has been technically superb, but has been as humane as possible under such difficult circumstances.

From earlier briefings in Israel, I know the IDF takes an almost absurd degree of care in its targeting. The questioning doesn’t stop with “Is that the right building?” it then asks, “What should be our angle of attack to ensure any rubble falls into the street, not atop the primary school next door?” (Hamas consistently embeds terror facilities among innocent civilians.)

Hitting a terrorist hideout in an apartment building, for example, an F-16 would be armed with the smallest warhead that could do the job. If the terrorists are tucked into rooms on the fourth floor, targeting officers evaluate whichwindow the guided missile should go through to kill the terrorists, while minimizing harm to civilians living below.

Any military veteran can tell that the Israelis are taking enormous care to spare civilians. Given the number of airstrikes thus far and the hundreds of tons of bombs dropped, it remains remarkable that so few innocents have been injured in such a dense urban environment.

Of further interest is a new Rasmussen poll which shows the degree to which Americans’ support of Israel depends on their party affiliation:

Sixty-two percent (62%) of Republicans back Israel’s decision to take military action against the Palestinians, but only half as many Democrats (31%) agree. A majority of Democrats (55%) say Israel should have tried to find a diplomatic solution first, a view shared by just 27% of Republicans.

While 75% of Republicans say Israel is an ally of the United States, just 55% of Democrats agree. Seven percent (7%) of Democrats say Israel is an enemy of America, but only one percent (1%) of Republicans say the same. For 21% of Republicans, Israel is somewhere in between, and 28% of Democrats agree.

Proud to be a Texan

It is a proud day to be a Texan. John Cornyn has stood up and said:

“This is a very, very serious matter,” Cornyn said. “I can assure you that there will be no way that people on our side of the aisle will agree to seat any senator without a valid certificate.”

He is, of course, referring to the battle going on in Minnesota between Republican Incumbent Norm Coleman and Democrat challenger Al Franken.

In Minnesota, once you are officially declared the winner, you get a Certificate of Election. Al Franken will not have that certificate come time for the self-declared winner to take his Oath of Office.

Al Franken is currently winning by less than 50 votes, with some more absentee ballots waiting to be counted from a Coleman friendly area. Coleman has all but said there will be litigation if Franken is declared the winner.

Even though Sen. Cornyn did vote in favor of the bailout, he has earned my respect on this matter.

HuckPAC, Mike Huckabee’s PAC, started their National Volunteer Program yesterday, of which I have joined. As of 4:26 PM yesterday (1-1-2009), they had 828 new volunteers! That is incredible, especially since they were hoping for 500 volunteers by January 15th!

If you are interested in helping out the Conservative movement, not just Mike Huckabee, please join as a volunteer.
